I was looking at a past site I made for my "Writing with Video" class.
We had to write a manifesto, I decided to design mine.
(ugh, it was so horrible. thank you jen for typography class. if i have time, i will re-design it. too horrible for me to post again. if you find it online, i apologize in advance.)
here are some of the things i put in it:
MY WORK WILL...
--play with perspective
--convey my beliefs
--not always be what you expect of me
--pay attention to "negative space" or "negative time"
--be innovative
--improve with each attempt
--be open for interpretation and criticism
--be thought-provoking
--reflect my environment, the people around me, and the things that I love
--explore different emotions: being playful at times, serious at others; question the environment around us; comfort and reinforce ideas;
--argue points quietly but persuasively
I think i've lost perspective lately... this was a good reminder. Maybe this doesn't make sense to you, but it reminds me of what I came from in terms of design--the things I was passionate about, even if they were only self-indulgent.
some small goals.. for all of us :)
**using my SLR around with me
**get in the habit of carrying my sketchbook
**blogging more often
i really like what Holly says in "P.S. I Love You"
"Just create something... new, and there it is, and its you, out in the world, out side of you and you can look at it, or hear it, or read it, or feel it... and you know a little more about... you. A little bit more than anyone else does..."
