No matter how i write this entry, no matter what words i use or how long this entry is, i will never rightfully express how great last nite was. i think that every single person there- no matter where they were from, what nationality they were, or who they knew there- will agree. Last nite was one of the most awesome experiences and although i was half-expecting it to be, i did not know that it was goin to be to that magnitude. i hope that this next entry will motivate whoever's readin this to go today to the meeting. it is totally worth ur time- whether or not u're christian or not does not matter.
driving to church was torturous. i was so anxious to get to church that the car ride seemed so much longer than usual. getting out of the car, i couldn't help but run up the driveway into church, and who else to see first but Pastor Stuart himself.
Just a little background information: i went to missions this past summer to inner-city Richmond, VA and he was the youth pastor of the church there. He's an awesome person- full of energy, awesome sense of humor, and very friendly. But more importantly, he was an awesome speaker. i can remember everything he said in all of the messages he gave. One nite while we were still at richmond, he was suposed to give us a one hour talk about spiritual warfare and he started readin us a whole BOOK. imagine, someone standing there readin a whole book to you. Boring right? well, he went realyl overtime and it took him 3 hours instead of 1, but honestly, it felt like one hour. it was awesome.
i around 7:20 or so, people started coming. it was amazing. eric and i were standing outside watching all the cars pull in and vans of people gettin out of the cars. we welcomed everyone in, and it was so weird to see how many different people i knew from different plcaes were coming. i saw: vivi, nate, cindy, mel, sam, jay-z, dan yang, ian, theo, and catrina. They came with their youth groups and man, it was awesome. the 3 largest youth groups in this area coming together.
MC-ing was an overwhelming experience. as everyone cheered and went "bananas" =P, the energy that i felt and seeing SO MANY PEOPLE all over the place made me super emotional. i was tellin eileen thursday nite that i was really hoping that our church would be filled to the BRIM- people sitting all over the floors and stuff- and although no one sat on the floor, people were streaming out into the halls, and the energy that everyone gave off was.. powerful.
we had a skit which was hilarious - christina did an excellent job of writing the script, and eric, ellen, and derek did an awesome job acting. although i was a lil uncomfortable because it was a lil too "fobby", and it mighta offended some people, i think they really did a good job at it.
eileen also put together two videos which were awesome. hah, che
ck it out. they're so good. eileen's gonna be the next steven spielberg.
eileen leading worship was freakin... ah, amazing (yeah, i'm using that word a lot). during it, a lot of times i would stop singing just to hear everyone else sing and it was deafening. everyone was singing at the top of their lungs.. on pitch too =P. i also kept on turning around a lot cuz i coiuldn't believe just how many people were there and how into it everyone was.
Pastor Stuart, being the powerful speaker he is, really "shook the house". even though there were close to i think about 250 people there, everyone listened. usually in yg, everyone is talkin and not payin attention.. but he really had us. everyone should get the oppurtunity to see him speak. it's amazing. i am so in awe of his ability to speak. at the end, we worshipped a lil more and pastor stuart spoke during it.. and.. it brought a lot of people including myself to tears. ahhhhhh, man, i wish i could accurately express how awesome tonite was.. if i coudl get u guys to understand how awesome tonite will probably be.
it ended at around 10ish and we all hung around until 11:30 or so. such an awesome time: ellen and i givin each other "Zerberts" =P; puke, black pepper, and sardine flavored jelly beans; nate sticking his finger in my nose while takin a pic; nate jumping on my back thinking i could give him a piggy-back ride(hello, he's huge); ellen pokin steph's eye; dan's monologues; allison holdin the phone upside down; dave and his obsession w/LOTR risk; .... ahhh. so amazing....
